our culture & Values

COMPASSION | INTEGRITY | INCLUSIVITY | EXPERIENCE | INNOVATION

Dig a Little Deeper, Psychotherapy & Counselling (DaLD) was founded in 2015 by owner Registered Psychotherapist Christina Crowe, in Caledon, Ontario.

Here, the traditional owner-contractor relationship is replaced with purpose and values driven self-management. Our culture is grounded in creating effective and sustainable processes for health care providers and patients alike – allowing us to be fully human AND also able to bring forward our best selves at work.

We offer an engaged and learning focused work environment, client referrals, secure and compliant online booking and patient/client management systems, a platform for real-time peer support, and a flexible hybrid or virtual-only work environment, along with full autonomy over working days and hours.

We value safe, attuned and anti-oppressive mental health care.

We strive to affirm the areas of intersectionality that influence the delivery of mental health care, including neurotype, gender, sexuality, race, education, citizenship, body-size or language. Every human experience matters.

We value innovation, excellence in professional practice and accessibility.

With each new service offering to provide comprehensive care, we are mindful of the original spirit of our health care system origins. We endeavour to continue offering new, important avenues for comprehensive care, while maintaining spaces for people who have not been able to be helped by our public system, and cannot afford private care.

We are a teaching site.

We value providing Masters level graduate interns practicum opportunities to complete their training. We offer a unique program that blends not only all things mental health, but also teaches therapists-to-be how to help patients navigate Ontario’s health care system, and the importance of working with our medical colleagues to meet the complete mental healthcare needs of our broader community.

Our company culture is grounded in the philosophy of ‘teal organizations’.

At Dig a Little Deeper, the traditional practice owner-contractor relationship is replaced with an organization of purpose driven self-management. We strive to create a highly effective and sustainable company that allows us to be fully human at work.

We are organized by purpose and collaboration, and our goals, programs and targets are based on the the needs of our team, as its own living and breathing organism (rather than by revenue or profit).

We’re a teaching site, providing Masters level graduate interns with practicum opportunities to complete their training.

Additionally, our program combines mental health with training for therapists-to-be on how to help patients navigate Ontario’s healthcare system, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with medical colleagues to meet the comprehensive mental healthcare needs of our broader community.

About Our Contractor Opportunities

We comply with Ontario’s employment standards and transparency rules when posting and hiring for contractor roles.

Our hiring process includes sharing the expected pay rate or range, and we do not require Canadian work experience, although applicants must hold current registration in good standing with the appropriate Ontario regulatory college (such as the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario).

If we use any artificial intelligence (AI) tools as part of screening or hiring, we will clearly disclose this.

Job postings specify whether the role is for a current opening or a future opportunity, and anyone interviewed will receive an update about the outcome within 45 days of their last interview.

Before any contractor begins work, we provide a written summary of key details, including our legal and operating name, a main contact, where the work will be performed, starting pay and pay periods, and a general outline of initial hours of work.

We also keep copies of postings, applications, and interview communications for three years, as required by law.

Because Ontario law closely examines whether someone is truly an independent contractor, our agreements clearly outline the terms of the relationship and confirm the contractor’s independence, while ensuring pay and working conditions meet or exceed legal standards (including minimum wage for active work time, where applicable).

Before you start, we’ll provide everything you need to feel confident stepping into your new role, including a written summary of pay, pay periods, hours, work location, and your key contacts at the practice.

If you’re looking for a flexible, team-oriented environment where your expertise is respected, we’d love to hear from you.
