Bio

Riley Thompson is a Master’s graduate counselling intern and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), currently undertaking practicum training at Dig a Little Deeper, in Ontario. Riley’s background includes five years of working with youth as a counsellor, teacher, and coach at high schools, and now brings those experiences to his career as a psychotherapist.

Riley views counselling as a courageous decision to make positive changes in one’s life. His aim with clients is to hear and understand who you are, what you are struggling with, the context around those struggles, and what you want to get out of counselling. Don’t know the answers to all those questions? Many of us don’t! Riley aims to provide insight into these answers, and to help each client pave their own path forward. He uses an integrative approach, incorporating humanistic, solution-focused, narrative, emotion-focused, strengths-based, and cognitive-behavioural strategies.

Riley began working as a counsellor, teacher, and coach at high schools in 2018. During that time, he gained valuable experience learning about the unique struggles and circumstances of a wide array of individuals and families. He knows problems and challenging times are inevitable. However, we do not have to face them alone.
