If you are celebrating the holiday season with gifts for your loved ones, we’ve got some suggestions for you! We’re sharing our list of our most recommended gifts for neurodivergent brains.
Whether your loved ones are easy to buy for, or more challenging, these things are sure to say thoughtful and useful!
Depending on the ages of your family members, you might be past certain stages of gifts – many of these ideas can be adapted when you get creative. If you have older kids, you might find it less about gifts, and more about creating ‘experiences’ – thats another surefire winner for ADHD brains.
We know when it comes to ADHD, the best supports are in our environment – things we can see, and people we can talk too. If this is news to you, we’ve got you.
If you want to learn more about all of the invisible symptoms of ADHD in Managing ‘Overwhelm’ (and other invisible symptoms of ADHD).
What greater gift could there be, than compassion and understanding from our loved ones?

Banish time-blindness with analog, visual timers
This incredibly simple tool is a time-management game changer. Being able to visually see time pass makes a big difference for many ADHD brains in particular.
The Visual Analog Timer, Countdown Clock, featuring no loud ticking, time management tool for kids and adults. Tools like this make task-switching a LOT easier.
Nothing beats an erasable whiteboard on the wall – teenagers room, or in an always useful kitchen “command centre”, or wherever you sit to plan your life.
Check out The Aim High Notepad! These tear-off reminder sheets are great stockings stuffers! Some people do much better with writing out just a few higher priority tasks each day. It’s less overwhelming and might help with prioritization.
Also, when it comes to written reminders and notes, we love this check-list: Things I must do to love myself. It’s too easy to be hooked into the crisis of the day – visual reminders can make all the difference.
If you do organizer bins, they must be C L E A R!
You or your loved one may watch your veggies go bad week after week, if you have them behind solid or opaque drawers. You’ve gotta go clear! Clear stackable storage containers for fridge or cupboards and for bathroom drawers or shelves.
Clear bins are a MUST for brains that excel in visual conditions.
No more arguing about things that can’t be seen, or found.
Make your mornings easier!
The earlier any brain gets light stimulation from the sun, the closer we might get to our own natural circadian rhythms. And everything we do to set up our next day, the night before, sets us up for an easier day.
Like, filling up your water bottle, so it’s ready to go. Start the day off right with a motivational water bottle! Encouragement and positive reinforcement all day long does amazing things for ADHD brains. We all need to drink more water.
Try using a Wake up Light Alarm Clock with Natural Sunrise Simulation and Sunset Fading Night Light. Some of them come with sleep trainers for kids too. Because, you know …. mornings.

Can’t remember if you (or your kids) took the AM meds this morning? Pick up a Pill Reminder bottle. Never forget again!
Find the lost things!
You can use apple Air Tags, or other tools like these trackers that link to your phone.
Tile by Life360 Sticker – Small Bluetooth Tracker, Remote Finder and Item Locator for Bikes, Glasses and More.
Soft, cozy time things to help wind-down at the end of a stimulating day.
We’ve heard lots about the soft cozy Oodie blanket/hoodie. They come in sizes for the whole family! Many people also enjoy other sensory-soothing things at home, like this weighted blanket:
Weighted Idea Cooling and Soft Weighted Blanket 20 lbs. 60″ ×80″ Queen Size for Adult ( Dark Grey).
Stay warm!
For those of us with sensory challenges, cozy and warm isn’t optional. Grab some guaranteed cozy socks, like these Womens Thermal Winter Home Socks.
While you are preparing to wind down from the day, it’s the external cues in our environment that let our brain know it’s time to go to bed. In addition to the soothing items listed above, replacing lamp bulbs in the family/living room, or on nightstands with more amber lights also help!
- G25 LED Bulb Dimmable, 2700K Soft White 5.5W[60W Equivalent], E26 Globe Edison Light Bulbs.
Get the bright light first thing in the morning to support our natural circadian rhythm and regain control over your sleep patterns.
Have a hard time getting going in the mornings? Or perhaps you are looking at addressing the occurrence of ADHD and Seasonal Affective Disorder.
One of the recommended gadgets are light therapy glasses. Check out Luminette 3 Light Therapy Glasses – Portable & Wearable Light Therapy glasses to see if thus might be for you.
A new exciting find this year!
Blue Light Blocking Glasses for Optimized Sleep. These Blue Light Blocking Glasses block 100% of melatonin disrupting blue and green light from 400nm to 550nm for optimized sleep, recovery and relaxation, and these are therapist tested and validated.
Throwing these on for your evening of TV watching is a total game changer for your sleep score. They come from Australia though, so make sure you order them in time!
Last but definitely not least, really great books
